Day 228: Can’t Get to Queensland Soon Enough

Day 228: Tired of Sweaters & Sweatshirts

Day 228: Tired of Sweaters & Sweatshirts

As much as I love Sydney’s mild winters, I’m really, really, really growing tired of this winter season down under. Is it just me, or does it feel colder, wetter and drearier than those in the recent past? I feel as though it has been raining for the past two weeks, and wait… I thought Australia was a dry country?!

You know you’re spending time in a place when you start to see things as relative. I’ve been shivering at night, in the morning and sometimes during the day here in Sydney, but really, the temperature might not be lower than 9 Celsius. I feel like such a wuss… almost as if I’m forgetting my Midwestern roots.

I don’t care for snow, and I’m definitely not one who’s down for planning their ski holidays 2011 tours and getaways. You should see those folks over in Queenstown, NZ though. They be going crazy when they get a good snow!

I’m tired of sweaters and space heaters and umbrellas. I’m tired and I probably missed a big chunk of winter having been in the USA not too long ago!

Because of this, I’m ready for Queensland. My tickets are booked, my bags are metaphorically packed; Tourism Queensland, I’m ready for you to make my week. C’mon August 26th! Get here already. I’m looking forward to Kuranda, Palm Cove, Kewarra Beach and the GBR. Even though I love spending time with Patrick here in Sydney, I simply need some good old fashioned sunshine STAT!

yeah, when i visited australia in 2006 it was the end of the winter season for them, but being from sunny florida, i was freezing. no matter what my mother told me, i figured i’d be all right. she forced a heavey leather jacket onto me and i was thankful for it when i got there. i’m just not good in the cold.

I’ve got to agree. I feel like I’ve had a six month winter by spending the Aussie summer in winterbound Korea and then coming back to a long Aussie Autumn/Winter.

I can’t wait for the warmth to come back. Rainy and overcast days are killing me.

I’m so jealous! Just last month we were in QLD and had to fly to Sydney to visit the hubby’s family. We thought we’ll just be here for a while, then we’ll fly to U.S. but then hubby’s work visa’s taking forever. Now summer’s about to end where we’re heading :(
