Eating in America is a great, great thing. You sit down at the table and are immediately met with ice waters and baskets of bread… for free! Oh my goodness! I used to live with this “luxury” my entire life, and now I’m realizing how totally awesome I had it. You live you learn, eh?
So, when it comes to Mexican food, it’s not just the tacos and burritos I’ve been missing while being in Australia; it’s the free stuff that comes with it. Oh yeah, I’m talking about the chips and salsa!
Our first night in Chicago landed us quite late, but it’s a late-night culture over here in America (unlike the late-night culture in Sydney). We were easily able to walk a couple of blocks and find a glorious, glorious Mexican restaurant to continue our taco tour of America.

I was pretty content with ordering a few tacos, but Pat had to go burrito… GIANT burrito. Seriously, I have never seen a burrito this big, and neither had he! America, you rock!
This is what a good evening entails.

How can you not love a place where you can basically fill up on free stuff before getting the actual meal?!

Free chips? It’s like something I knew in a former life. Enjoy the big and free eats!
Soooo jealous of the Mexican food! Eat up
OH yeah, it’s all about the free chips and salsa! There’s a place here that does an absolutely massive burrito. It could feed 3 people, easily.
oh man. Seriously chips and salsa are amazing. Actually I think you just ruined my diet. I think i have to get Mexican for lunch now!
You must come back to San Francisco and have our Mexican food! Just leave out whatever it is you’re allergic to.
I just had the biggest burrito I have ever seen! I took a picture, I’ll have to post it on my blog sometime.
I can’t even tell you (actually you clearly are in the same boat on, so I can) how awesome it is to get free water and free chips and salsa here!
We are trying to eat lots of Mexican food too so let us know some if you have some favorite places in LA (or anywhere in California that you have traveled!).
