Day 71: Brooke & Lauren decked out in green.

Day 71 was not St. Patty’s day, but I went to a party that was all about celebrating it on a weekend evening. It was a killer party, and everyone was wearing green — my favorite color. Since I am lacking photo evidence of my own from the gathering, I thought that I could put together a photo montage of photos that have a large portion, or a focal point, that are green.

While doing this, I learned two things: 1) searching for green photos was actually kind of hard, and 2) putting together a photo post takes more time than writing, especially if you are resizing (or maybe that’s just my stupid computer acting like it’s from 1995).

Countryside Near Hill of Crosses

white fenceThe Hill of Crosses is a must-see in Lithuania, and to get there I had to take a bus to a small town and then walk through the countryside. As I walked down the side of the road, I noticed that potatoes were scattered across the grass, perhaps because they fell off trucks that were driving along? It just gave the whole experience more character.

Wacky Plant in San Cristobal de las Casas

Subtle differences from one country to the next make them unique, and this plant is just one of the things I’ll remember from my time in Mexico. It sort of reminds me of Medusa.

Purple Flower in Ala Archa, Kyrgyzstan

purple flower at ala archaAla Archa is a beautiful nature park outside of Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan that we ventured to as part of a group trip from the London School in Bishkek. It is a very green place, which is probably why I loved this little purple flower there even more.

Mushroom Tops in Auckland, New Zealand

mushroom tops AucklandI climbed to the top of a little anthill near Auckland to be surprised by the interesting little addition of mushroom painted “things” in the ground. Little artsy bits like these make me happy.

Hobbit Homes in Matamata, New Zealand

matamataA very nerdy adventure brought me face-to-face with the place where hobbits once roamed. You can read more about my time hanging out in Hobbiton in the original post.

Love Birds in Copan, Honduras

Macaw Mountain is a bird sanctuary in Copan, Honduras where you can see cute little guys like these hanging out and getting rehabilitated.

Love to Love You in Vilnius, Lithuania

There’s a bridge in Vilnius where people put locks after they get hitched. Some are engraved with cute little messages like in the photo above.

Hunter Valley Roos

Green Building and Babushka in Odessa

green church odessaI loved this bright green building in Odessa, Ukraine, but what I love even more is the fact I caught a babushka in the mix.

Green Boats and Castle in Trakai

Phone Light for Bishkek Blackouts

phone light bishkekWhen I picked up my cell phone in Kyrgyzstan, I was thankful I found one with a built-in flashlight since we had quite a few blackouts to deal with.

Granny and Laundry Trakai

Brooke, I LOVE this post! Would you mind if I posted my own (and credited you, of course)? I’ve got so many good green photos from this trip…

Go for it! I bet you do have some good ones from over there 😀

I climbed the hill with mushroom caps in Auckland, too! I felt like I was in Super Mario Bros. Happy to help with a photo from the party–thanks again for coming 🙂

Oooo, I love this post! (And also love the NZ photos used… yay Hobbiton!)

I, like Kate, may have to steal this idea for future use… I like doing photo essays every now and again, but I never considered focusing the theme around a color! Awesome idea.

Great idea to use just 1 color as a theme 🙂 I went to Matamata as well when I was there, was funny to walk around in that place. I think they where also using it again for the new Hobbits movie.

Yes, I heard that, too 🙂 It was crazy hearing about all the things they had to do just to make that set match the book. Crazy stuff!
