While in Kyrgyzstan, drowning in a sea of frozen snow, I got the notification that I had been selected as a contender for a coveted spot on Canon Island next March.
Ahhhh, an all expenses paid trip to a tropical island in Australia… it was like music to my ears!
But it gets better…
I have a 1 in 5 chance of becoming the blogger on the island — an island whose location is yet to be known, but should be full of inspiration and adventure nonetheless!
In order to win a place, I have to compete in a photo competition against 4 other Aussie-based bloggers. Every two weeks, we’ll be submitting one photo according to an island theme to the Canon Island App on the Canon Australia Facebook page. Each vote counts as a point!
The first photo has to be submitted by the 19th of this month, and I’m just waiting for my Canon camera — the Powershot SX40 HS — to arrive (to be used during the duration of the contest) so I can start snapping away!

You get entered for a chance to win a Canon Powershot SX40 HS of your own! How cool is that?!
The Photo Themes:
All the photos submitted must be based around an island theme.
Photo 1: Urban Island
Photo 2: Desert Island
Photo 3: Dessert Island
Photo 4: Eye Land
Photo 5: My Land
I’m able to interpret these themes any which way I please, which sounds super fun. I’m jotting down ideas as we speak, but who knows, the best shot will probably come by chance! Feel free to add some ideas if you can think of anything in the comments below.

To be honest, I was blown away by the opportunity to compete in this contest! I’ll be updating about it as we move along, as I get the camera, and also when I just can’t decide on which photo to submit. A 1 in 5 chance is pretty darn good, so I definitely want to put my best foot forward.
