The Tropical Spice Garden in Penang is by far one of the best places in the city. It is there that you are transported to a tranquil tropical garden that is laced with the scent of the spices growing within. Not only that, but the information about the plants was both intriguing and educational for those taking the time to stroll slowly.
And why would you not stroll in a place like this?
Oh, that’s right, the blood-sucking mosquitoes. There was actually a moment or two where I had to run up the hill to get away from the swarms inside. Do yourself a favor and wear some bug repellent or else you’ll end up like me with 100 bites on your legs.

Besides that, the garden was fabulous. My favorite part of the walk was when we made it to the most serene and scenic restaurant where we could cool down with some sodas made from lemongrass, rosella or nutmeg juice. Mmm… refreshing.

You can get to the Tropical Spice Garden via bus from George Town for about 3.4 ringgit, or you can hop a taxi, but that may run in the 40 ringgit range just one way. I highly suggest avoiding the hottest time of the day since the garden itself is more humid than the surrounding, less tropical areas.

Yesterday in Chinatown of Buenos Aires I bought some Malaysian panang curry paste – now I just need a good recipe – help!
Haha, I’m not your girl! Maybe my bf can help… he’s the chef in this relationship
