Day 209: Travel Massive is Traveling Massively

Day 209: At Wahroonga Station; Long Train from City

Or, maybe what I meant to say is that I’m traveling massively to get to them? Yes, that works, too, given our lengthy bus and train combo to now make it into Sydney city, but what I was really talking about was learning of how Travel Massive is spreading throughout the world.

Word had it, while mingling at the Sydney Travel Massive on day 209, that the New York Travel Massive had some 160 members head to the July meetup! That’s quite the crowd… no wait, that’s like a conference. There’s also a new meetup happening in London, Brisbane and Marseille. Travel Massive world trip is definitely in the future!

Where there's alcohol, travelers can be found.

And to think, I’ve been going to Travel Massive (formerly Tribe) for over a year here in Sydney. It’s one of my favorite nights of the month because I get to catch up with people I enjoy and who also dig travel just as much as I do. It’s also a great place to meet some new faces, whether those faces are travelers passing through quickly or those involved in new travel ventures and businesses. It really is a great thing, and I love how the goal of Travel Massive is to be open: open to anyone loving travel!

We met up at a small bar in Sydney for our monthly event, drank some drinks, shook some hands, sweltered in the crowd and caught some air in the alley when there was just too many travel-loving people in one place. It’s a good thing.

If you’re interested in checking out a Travel Massive event near you, I suggest joining the Facebook page. Travel Massive is also looking to start chapters up in other cities around the world. Consult the website for info on starting your local chapter.

I’d love to start this here in Detroit…. but, I swear, I’m the only one around who seems to travel. No wonder I spend so much time on blogs and twitter :-)
