Cloud 9 Tweetup
I overall love me some social media action and am amazed at what some people achieve by using it. On my end, Twitter has actually allowed me to meet and interact with like-minded people and opened the door for meetups, or tweetups, in order to meet in real life. In fact, tweetups are the basis for the now global Travel Massive meetups that occur every month.
Yesterday’s tweetup, however, takes the cake. When I say in the title that tweetups are reaching new heights, I definitely mean that point literally.
Hosted by Cloud 9 Balloon Flights, I attended Australia’s first tweetup in the clouds! How awesome!
So, what happens when you get a group of social media savvy people in one hot air balloon?
Well, you get tweets sent to you from across the balloon for one. Yes, I was tweeted from someone in the balloon – so funny.
You get lots of photos. Here is my Flickr slideshow of the morning:
You get videos created on iPhones:
You get people making video shout-outs from 1800 feet in the air:
Pretty cool, eh? Glad to be a part of such an interesting event over Australia’s Hawkesbury valley.

American girl left to travel the world in 2007. Studied languages, slept in a yurt, taught English, met Aussie guy and fell in love. Moved to Australia. Calls Sydney home. Wants a puppy. Still loves to travel. Read more

Ahhh, so cool! What a quirky idea, I love all the footage you guys captured.
So cool! What will the next one be? Skydiving?
Yeah I will not be participating in THAT one haha
Haha… the meet-up would require everybody to form a ring a few thousand feet up in the air!
This is very, very cool. How come we haven’t seen more of this type of social media engagement!
Hey! It’s been ages since I’ve seen you around here
Crazy, right!
Naw… I do periodically check-in, but ya know, work & commenting… not a good mix! Is the world ready for blog addictions?
